The world's first turbine impeller range hood, the Kobe IS123 (model IS2336SQ IS2342SQ) is now available in a recirculating ductless vent hood version with clean-able carbon filters for carbon monoxide and odor removal.
The same hood body with quality seamless construction 430 series satin finish stainless steel, this island style vent hood features four speeds, oil catchment, removable filter sets for ease of cleaning, and two high performance fans for up to 400 cfm (recirculating ductless operation performance).
Stand alone, 36 and 42 inch recirculate 'vent-free' island hood, ceiling mount, #430 commercial 18 gauge seamless stainless steel island hood.
Kobe IS123 stainless steel island hood features 6 round exhaust, two turbine impeller fans for centrifugal filtering, two easy to clean oil catchments, four 20 watt halogen lights and electronic LCD control panel.
Please note that a 20 watt halogen light puts out 320 lumens, which is equal to a 35 watt incandescent light bulb.
This charcoal filtered recirculating option has the same four speed fan control with quiet mode (250 cfm at 1.0 sone), low (320 cfm at 3.0 sone), medium (360 cfm at 4.5 sone), and high setting (400 cfm at 4.8 sone) with the recirculating kit installed.
Exhaust is blown out the top through slotted vent openings.
Cleaning of the fan blower itself is rarely addressed and is a critical factor with recirculating ductless hoods.
These centrifugal fans can be set on low speed and degreaser sprayed up into each blower.
Allow the degreased material to flow back down into the catchment and rinse parts.
This is key to odor free performance in a professional quality recirculating kitchen hood - if the blowers are dirty, the exhaust will have an odor of its own.
All Kobe hoods are metric widths rounded to inches - consult diagrams for exact sizing.

RECIRCULATING VERSION of the IS-123 island hood & DUCTLESS IN GENERAL Recirculating versions of any hood are limited in cubic feet per minute CFM exhaust power. It is the nature of the beast, where CFMs much past 450 would effectively by-pass filtration, not slowing down much to leave more grease and odor behind. Every manufacturer offers ductless versions, but if you want professional performance ... you should naturally vent the hood outside. When you are forced to install a ductless hood, pay very close attention to your installation height (30 inch off range top maximum) and CFM rating of the hood. This particular Kobe hood can reach 400cfm with the most efficient grease and moisture removal type of fan - centrifugal turbine impeller. This IS123 recirculating version is the most professional duty choice available in ductless ceiling hoods. A big plus is the all seamless stainless steel body has clean-able centrifugal fans. Cleaning of the blower is key to odor free performance in a professional quality recirculating kitchen hood - if the fans are dirty, the exhaust will naturally have more of an odor. Just set a centrifugal blower on low speed and spray degreaser up into each fan, allow the degreased material to flow back down into the catchment, and then rinse the parts out. The other two Kobe ceiling hoods are rated at 300cfm and 420cfm with glass canopies and squirrel cage fans. |

WHAT TO DO WITH SLOPED CATHEDRAL and HIGH CEILINGS It is unique to see a stainless steel duct cover extend all the way up to the face of an angled ceiling - or much past ten feet (floor to ceiling height). Cathedral sloped and tall ceilings traditionally have a wood frame 'chaseway' box that 'hangs down' for level/horizontal mounting surface for top of hood duct cover. Designers use chaseways as architectural Focus for the entire room, if not the entire house as your guests view it. Covered with stone, glass, ceiling tin, paneled or tiled, or just drywall, your vent pipe extends on through the center of the chaseway. Unless you are shooting for an industrial look, a stainless steel 'finger' unmitigated from floor to 12 foot ceiling can be an over-powering 'eye magnet'. Smaller chaseways (single 2by4 frame) are wood trimmed to match the rest of the room and/or cabinets. Do you need an economical means to extend a too-short duct cover just six inches or more? Surround the top of your duct cover with decorative wood trim, tile or molding to hide any gap. |

Kobe range hoods are kept in stock and typically ship the next business day.
If a hood model is Out of Stock, notice is posted in bold red text above shopping cart button for that particular unit.
After your new hood is in transit, we automatically email tracking information with estimated delivery date and contact information for the trucking company.
We have always enjoyed working with Kobe and trust you too will find their customer service very helpful, should you ever need it.
And if history is any judge, you may well never need any parts or service.

If need be, they will do their best to sub-contract one of your local independent appliance repair centers for a service call.
Shipping the entire unit back for repair is the last option for Kobe, not the first and only option found with most other hood manufacturers.
